Science and Technology of Advanced Materials (STAM) is an open-access journal devoted to all aspects of materials science, including theoretical analysis, synthesis and processing, characterization, properties, engineering and applications. The journal covers advances in research on solids, liquids and colloids, with emphasis on the interdisciplinary nature of materials science and issues at the forefront of the field, such as nano-, bio- and ecomaterials. The interdisciplinary nature of STAM aims at helping the readers to understand various aspects of materials research outside their own core expertise. STAM is an invaluable source of information for materials scientists and engineers, in both academia and industry.
STAM offers a unique range of benefits to its authors and readers:
FREE to publish - all publication costs are covered by the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS).
FREE to read - ensuring that your research is available to the global scientific community.
Potentially high impact factor (IF).
Please note that the editors are committed to drastically improve the journal prestige and IF. The open-source nature of the journal allows them to select a limited number of high-quality papers, thus facilitating this task. The current IF of 1.27 reflects the previous stage of STAM, before becoming an open-access journal in 2008; IF is projected to increase significantly after the year 2008.
Rapid publication - from submission to online publication in weeks.
Language and style correction for the accepted papers - ensuring the quality of your presentation.
No page limits. However, shorter papers are encouraged as they enjoy faster refereeing and publishing.
FREE use of color illustrations and supplementary content (e.g. multimedia files) in the online edition.
Printed issues are distributed free of charge at major international conferences, helping to popularize your results.
Author-friendly copyright: see STAM's copyright statement.

STAM is abstracted in all major scientific locators, such as ISI Web of Science and Journal Citation Report,
Scopus, Inspec, Metadex and Engineered Materials Abstracts.
